Teacher's Reflection Tool (Nationwide)
News coverage
Indonesia's Ministry of Education launched a mission to support teachers' career advancement based on competency and performance metrics. To support this, they initiated a reflection program to help teachers understand their current competency levels and identify growth opportunities that benefit themselves and their school communities.
However, reflection wasn't yet common in educational culture. Teachers often viewed self-assessment questions as ministry evaluations, feeling overwhelmed and concerned about career impacts.
Working with a cross-functional team of Visual and Motion Designers, PMs, Researchers, Engineers, and Content Strategists, we set out to encourage continuous reflection through engaging experiences. As the lead writer, I created microcopy for the reflection tool and collaborated with Content Strategists to develop approachable questions and learning materials.
The initiative successfully engaged teachers across Indonesia, shifting perceptions about reflection. Teachers reported feeling uplifted, with feedback such as: "The tool feels like a true friend with whom I can be honest and genuine" and "The use of Pantun (Indonesian poetic verses) made this feature warmer and more relaxed, showing that reflection isn't a stressful task."
This tool is now successfully deployed nationwide, supporting teachers across the country.
